Buffy Quintero holds a M.A. in art education from University of Iowa. Buffy currently teaches elementary art in the Iowa City Community School District. She has experience teaching at the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels. During her undergraduate studies she spent an academic year abroad studying at Albert Lüdwigs Universität in Freiburg, Germany. She worked for eight years as outreach coordinator for the University of Iowa International Programs. Her experiences included developing internationally focused professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers, directing a volunteer program of cultural ambassadors, coordinating on-campus experiential learning opportunities for students, and collaborating on special art projects in schools. She also developed and directed internationally focused arts-based summer camps including a Japanese Bunraku Puppetry Camp and a camp called “Africa is not a Country.” Buffy has strong interests in puppetry arts, intermedia arts, photography, and cultural specific art practices.
Mother of two children, Buffy, enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys making art, traveling, reading, playing ultimate frisbee, wilderness camping, canoeing, and biking.
